Funding for Conference/Event Attendance and Travel

Mohr Career Services will fund costs related to travel and lodging for in-person events, as well as both in-person and virtual registration fees. For any questions, please contact Cherie Knox at cheriek@uoregon.edu.

Thanks to several generous donors, Mohr Career Services provides support for Lundquist undergraduate and graduate students to attend industry-based conferences and competitions to facilitate more and better career opportunities.

Funding is prioritized for conferences and events in the western United States but funding requests for more distant destinations will be considered. These funds are not available to support college-sponsored group travel (for example: MBA trips).

Eligibility

This fund is available to undergraduate business, accounting and declared pre-business majors as well as Eugene-based graduate students in MBA, MAcc or MSF degree programs. Applicants must have not yet met their degree requirements by the start of the event and must be in good academic standing.

Conference or case competition registration fees are eligible for reimbursement through this fund. The fund may apply up to $250 towards those registration fees.  Funds are provided on a reimbursement basis. Formal documentation of expenses (receipts) will be required, and funds will not be released until completion of the event. Recipients will also be asked to share a top lesson learned from the conference/event or other professional outcomes.

As with all scholarships, these funds may impact your existing financial aid award. If this is a concern, you should consult an advisor in the UO Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Application

This application takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide:

  • Name and date of event and website link
  • Location and duration of event
  • Registration cost for the event
  • Statement of your career goals and an explanation of how the event will help you achieve these goals

Do not begin this application until you have all of these elements available.

Deadline

Applications must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the conference or other scheduled event. Funding will not be provided retroactively for events that have already occurred prior to the application being submitted.

Applications will be reviewed, and a funding decision made within ten business days of the application submission date.
