Explore Accounting Career Opportunities

This page and the associated resources are a starting point for exploring Accounting careers and developing the skills commonly needed for roles within the field.

Careers within the accounting field range from positions in public accounting, private corporations, and government. In public accounting, Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) work in a firm that serves a variety of clients such as businesses, individuals, governmental organizations, and nonprofits. Services offered may include tax preparation and planning; consulting; and preparing, reviewing, and auditing financial statements. Given the demand for accounting expertise in all organizations, accountants have the ability to choose whether they would like to work in the public or private sector and for a large corporation or a smaller local company.
