Looking to build career-ready skills this summer?

Professional Edge is offering free, online, self-paced Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy courses designed to help students develop in-demand cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data skills. Through hands-on learning and real-world industry scenarios, students can gain practical experience while exploring one of the fastest-growing areas of technology.

All courses are free, fully online, self-paced, and available through September 18.

What You’ll Gain

Students who complete an AWS Academy course receive:

  • 12 months of free access to the subscription version of AWS Skill Builder (this includes not only hundreds of digital courses, but also labs and immersive learning experiences for building practical AWS skills, plus full access to AWS Certification exam prep materials)
  • AWS Certifications, industry-recognized credentials that validate your technical skills to employers
  • A complementary voucher to take the applicable-level exam (after completing one of the assigned official practice exams)    

AWS Summer Course Offerings

Cloud Foundations
  • Level: Introductory
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours
  • Description: An introduction to cloud computing concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. This course is a great starting point for anyone new to cloud computing, and no prior technical experience is required.
Generative AI Foundations
  • Level: Introductory
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 15 hours
  • Description: Explore the concepts, tools, and AWS services behind generative AI, including large language models, prompt engineering, foundation models, and responsible AI practices. No prior AI experience is required. This course is aligned with the AWS Certified AI Practitioner exam framework.
Machine Learning Foundations
  • Level: Introductory
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours
  • Description: Learn the concepts and terminology of artificial intelligence and machine learning through hands-on practice building, training, and deploying a custom machine learning model using AWS services. Students will also learn how AWS machine learning tools can be applied to real business challenges. Some familiarity with cloud computing concepts is helpful but not required.
Data Engineering
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Time Commitment: Varies
  • Recommended Preparation: Cloud Foundations (or equivalent experience)
  • Description: Learn the tasks, tools, and strategies used to collect, store, prepare, analyze, and visualize data for analytics and machine learning applications. Through real-world use cases, students will gain experience making data pipeline decisions and working with modern data engineering workflows. Completion of Cloud Foundations or equivalent experience is recommended before enrolling.
