Networking Management Tool: CareerOS

Set your career direction in a few simple steps:  

1. Set up My Path for custom recommendations. 
2. Select your dream role, graduation date, industries, and locations. 
3. It’s okay if you’re “still thinking,” just add what you know and be curious. Or book an appointment with our Mohr Career Advisors!

1. On Google Chrome Browser, go to the CareerOS chrome web extension and click “Add to Chrome” so you can save companies, contacts and jobs from LinkedIn, Handshake, and Indeed.
2. Save jobs from multiple sources by clicking the CareerOS plugin box on the page.

* For smoother experience, set up this feature as “To give an extension access to this site, click it’.

The dashboard is the first thing you’ll see when you log in — it’s your launchpad to everything CareerOS can do. Here’s what each part helps you with:

1. The Overview Board is shows all your saved jobs and companies in one place.  
2. You’ll get recommendations based on MyPath and Mohr’s Active Employer List. 
3. Save 3 recommended companies and they’ll show up in your “Saved” column.  
4. Any jobs or companies you save from CareerOS, Handshake, or LinkedIn will show up on the overview board. 
5. Click the company name and follow the prompts to save your first contact. 

1. Click “save to CareerOS” on the contact’s LinkedIn page. 

2. Manage your outreach and follow up with contacts from the CareerOS Contact page.

3. When you see populated contacts in CareerOS, we recommend starting with people on the team you’re interested in by function. You may also start with people you know and alumni (Lundquist Connect). Chat with a Career Advisor for more tips. 

1. Introduce yourself through email or LinkedIn and save the message as your own personal template.

2. Use the TIARA framework for Informational Interviews and track your coffee chat notes in the contact’s profile.  

Track your progress by moving/confirming contact profiles into Contact columns such as Response Received, Coffee Chat, Nurturing, and Golden Referral.

 “Nurturing” is when you’ve met with someone who is helpful and responsive and you want to follow up with them again.

“Golden Referral” is when you have made a positive professional impression and the person will advocate for you, introduce you to other professionals, help with a project, or refer you for a job. 

Set up a calendar system and add weekly events around classes to work on career planning.

Below are 2 tricks how you could use 15-30 minutes of career planning on your calendar:  

• Save jobs –> Sort –> Apply –> Message Contact 
• 1^st outreach  –> 2^nd outreach –> schedule Coffee Chat 

Set job deadlines when you add them from LinkedIn and Handshake so you’ll get reminders by email. Then add “hype level” emoji so you can sort by job and hype level, then prioritize networking and applying to your most exciting jobs first. 

Instantly’s 2026 benchmark report shows, 58% of replies come from the first email, and 42% come from follow-ups.

When you don’t hear from someone after two outreach attempts, we recommend archiving those contacts and connecting with new ones at the company so your overview board stays current and relevant.
