Group Fitness Instructors develop and lead group workouts that utilize safe and effective movements through all class activities. Rec fitness workouts contribute to the health and fitness goals of students, faculty, staff, SRC members and guests and should be enjoyable and highly motivational for all fitness and skill levels. Rec Group Fitness Instructors are valuable team members of the PE & Rec Fitness Team and crucial to providing quality services.
Eligibility Requirements: Current student enrolled in a minimum of 8 credits (UO Preferred); good communication skills; working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and fitness training principles; knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies; and the ability to sustain aerobic activity for 45 – 90 minutes through a series of physical activities.
Certification Requirement: Current Adult CPR, AED and Standard First Aid from a nationally accredited institution or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. National fitness certification required within first 3 months of hire (maintain CEU’s as appropriate).
Instructors that are not certified will be paid minimum wage until they achieve their certification. Upon completion, hourly pay will range from $15-$16 according to experience. Employees are eligible for yearly merit raises.
