About University of Oregon Accessible Education Center: The AEC is dedicated to facilitating and supporting accessible education through access and full inclusion of students with disabilities into the university environment. This is accomplished through effective collaborations/consultations with faculty/staff, proactive advising, and the fostering of systemic campus change. The AEC works to create and sustain physical, curricular, and informational environments that are informed by and responsive to the diverse characteristics and experiences of students with disabilities and variations of ability.

Position Description: The AEC is seeking a creative and motivated student worker to join our team as a Programming and Social Media Coordinator. This position offers students a unique opportunity to collaborate with other campus members, utilize social media in a professional manner, and to develop skills that can be utilized after leaving UO. The successful candidate will also play a key role in aiding the AEC in developing and implementing programs/campus engagement opportunities.
Duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Generate, edit, publish, and share content on the AEC Instagram and Facebook page via original images, texts, videos, flyers, etc.
- Ensure content shared is accessible (e.g., includes image descriptions, alt text, captions for videos, etc.)
- Share information that is sent to the AEC Instagram (primary source of sharing) from other campus community members.
- Willing to create connections and collaborate with other campus community members (e.g., CMAE, TRIO, Multicultural Center, etc.)
- Continue to build AEC’s social media presence throughout different platforms and build the program’s social media strategy.
- Help AEC professional staff coordinate programs throughout terms, identify areas that are accessible and able to hold events.
- Help develop and implement student engagement initiatives to increase student involvement in AEC events.
- Support AEC with creating flyers and other materials for engagement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students are required to be registered for a minimum of 8 credits to be eligible to work as a student employee; graduate students are only required to be registered for 3 credits to be eligible.
- Good academic standing (GPA 3.0)
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and abide by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.) and how to navigate them.
- Fundamental knowledge of how to utilize web design platforms, such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, to create informational flyers and other media content.
- Good communication skills/able to provide a professional persona to the AEC social media accounts and programs.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Accessible media is not required and will be taught but, would be beneficial if the candidate has a fundamental understanding.
- Knowledge of disability representation around campus (e.g., within campus groups, offices, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and within a group setting.
