All Students:
All Duck Rides Team Members are expected to uphold program policies and procedures; University policies and procedures per ASUO and UOPD. As a member of the Duck Rides Team, staff report to the Duck Rides Leadership Team, Duck Rides Program Manager, and Duck Rides Program Specialist. Due to the nature of this work, it is imperative that staff maintain a valid driver’s license with a relatively clean driving record. Staff are also expected to be able to drive or navigate for extended periods of time throughout the night. Working as a team includes assisting other dispatchers by covering shifts and thoughtfully completing staff evaluations two to three times a year. While on shift, staff will follow emergency procedures, adapting to situations that may arise throughout the night. Attend all-staff mandatory paid trainings and other trainings as necessary throughout the academic year. Lastly, to effectively work with the Duck Rides Team, it is important to communicate in a timely manner.
General Description: ($14.88/hr)
Team Members are trained as Drivers, Navigators, and Dispatchers for Duck Rides. An average shift is six hours of driving a vehicle, navigating within a vehicle, or dispatching rides from the office. Your role changes night to night. Duck Rides is committed to serving the UO community in a safe and inclusive way. Applicants should be interested in serving their community and committed to safety. Weekly hours can range from 7 hours to 25 hours a week, depending on your availability. Opportunities for leadership positions may be available in the future. Team Member’s shift hours are from 5:15 pm – 12:30 am, operating seven days a week. The hours of operation are 6:00 pm – 12:00 am. Duck Rides only operates when classes are in session and is closed for all breaks, including summer.
DUTIES:
- Assist in covering shifts for other employees when needed.
- Follow emergency protocols and adapt to situations that arise throughout the shift.
- Attend all-staff mandatory meetings and other trainings, which are paid.
- Respond to emails, complete preferences on when to work (W2W), fill out evaluations in a timely manner, and meet with leadership as necessary.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with a relatively clean driving record. Be able to drive or navigate for extended periods of time throughout the night.
- Report to the Duck Rides leadership team, program manager, and program specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in high-stress environments.
- Experience in customer service and communicating with a variety of people.
- Experience working independently and in group settings.
- Valid driver’s license.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Commitment to work two weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) per month. This includes both the early shift and the late shift for that night.
- Commitment to 3 terms or 9 months of employment. In a leadership role, you can continue in the same position for the following academic year or apply to a new open position.
- Obtain and maintain University of Oregon Driver’s Certification.
- Commitment to work one weekday shift a week.
- Commitment to attend the following mandatory (paid) trainings after being hired: bloodborne pathogen training, van driving test, Duck Rides specific operational training/shadow shifts, and other trainings as needed.
- Minimum 2 years of driving.
- Must submit a driving record.
