Job Description
As a Student Research Assistant, you will be working in a specific research lab. Duties and available hours will vary depending on individual labs and your experience level. Please indicate your lab preference in your application. There may be opportunities to continue in the subsequent terms. These positions are funding contingent.
*This is the application for a paid research position. Students interested in volunteering or registering for research credits should contact the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry staff to sign up.
**This is a pooled position. Applicants are interviewed and/or selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire, and applicants will be notified.
Duties: As a Student Research Assistant, duties may include:
Conducting scientific experiments in a chemistry laboratory following safety standards.
Preparing and analyzing samples; operating HPLC, GC, NMR, mass spec, and/or other instruments; performing computational studies, analyzing data and preparing reports as directed by the laboratory mentor, reviewing published scientific literature and preparing written reviews of existing publications.
Attending lab meetings.
Providing an accurate record of experiments and data.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
