Identify potential acquisitions and provide financial products solutions to clients with the Investment Banking & Markets teams.

Welcome to this programme, which has been designed to provide you with a valuable insight into the type of work undertaken by the Investment Banking & Markets teams in our Global Banking & Markets (GB&M) business.

The programme comprises 6 tasks. For the first three you’ll join as a team member in Investment Banking and the second three in Markets, giving you a taste of life across the myriad of activity undertaken by our GB&M function. You can choose to do them all, or just focus on the areas pertinent to you and your career aspirations.

Maybe you know this is an area where you’d like to focus your career – or perhaps you’re just curious and interested to find out more about the type of work our analysts do. Either way, this is the course for you.

As you work through the scenarios and tasks, you’ll see how the different business areas work together to support our clients across the globe. You’ll also practice and develop the skills our analysts use every day in their work.

At HSBC, we don’t just focus on what we do, we focus on how we do it. We have a Conduct Approach that complements our Purpose and Values – this guides us all to take responsibility to do the right thing and focus on the impact we have for our customers and the financial markets in which we operate:

We understand our customers’ needs and design, market and sell products and services that recognise their long-term interestsWe provide products and services that offer a fair exchange of value and do not undermine market competitionWe service our customers’ ongoing needs and ensure products and standards of service continue to have a positive impactWe act with integrity in the financial markets we operate inWe operate resiliently and securely to avoid harm to customers and markets

As you work through the tasks in this programme, acting within these principles will ensure you embody the expectations of a HSBC employee.

The programme does not form part of an official recruitment process. It has been designed to broaden and deepen your knowledge of the role/business area and help you decide whether this is a career path you’re keen to pursue. At the end of each task, you have the opportunity to compare your work against an example answer, furthering your learning and development.

We hope this programme is a useful resource for you to upskill and strengthen your resume as you explore career options and a potential role at HSBC.
