What It’s Like to Intern in Singapore as a Business Student

Imagine spending your summer gaining hands-on experience at an international company, exploring global business from the inside, and earning college credit—all while living in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

Each year, Mohr Career Services and UO Globalworks partner to offer Lundquist College of Business students a paid internship opportunity in Singapore. Selected students receive up to a $6000 stipend to help offset travel and living expenses while gaining professional experience that expands their global perspective.

Student Reflections

For business students like Logan Adams and Spencer Erspamer, the Singapore Internship Experience became far more than a summer abroad—it was a defining moment in their college journey.

This past summer, Logan interned in Singapore and found that the opportunity connected his professional goals with his cultural identity. “I was selected to participate in this program as the one UO student placed in my host company and sent to Singapore fully funded by scholarships and company support,” he said. “Singapore is an international business hub and a crossroads of cultures, which aligns perfectly with my professional goals and my own cultural identity.” Having lived in several countries, Logan shared that studying abroad reminded him that stepping into unfamiliar spaces can bring you closer to understanding who you are.

The year before, Spencer became the program’s first participant, interning with Centurion Corporation Ltd. under University of Oregon alumnus David Phey, head of corporate communications. “David taught me the importance of clarity and precision when communicating with diverse audiences,” he reflected. “This experience opened my eyes to how much I connect with people and their stories when I travel.”

Both students returned with stronger communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence to navigate global business environments.
