Find Your People: The Alumni Connection You’re Not Using (Yet)

Two students sit across from each other in a study space, engaged in conversation with laptops open in front of them. One student wears a green "OREGON" sweatshirt, smiling warmly.

One of Lundquist Connect‘s most powerful tools is “Groups”, a specifically designed feature where users can engage around shared affinities, industries, or goals. Groups are smaller communities that allow you to connect more deeply with fellow Ducks around a common topic or shared affiliation so you can network with intention.

Within a group you can:

  • Connect directly with members who may not appear in general searches.
  • Join focused discussions on relevant topics.
  • Access exclusive resources only visible to group members.

Using Groups

Follow these steps to join a group:

  • Go to lundquistconnect.uoregon.edu and log in with your Duck ID.
  • Hover over “Connect” in the top menu and click on “Groups.”
  • Scroll through the list and choose a Group of interest.
  • Click “Join.” Some Groups may require approval from a moderator.

Once you’re approved, you’ll have access to more targeted networking opportunities!

To see alumni and other professionals in a Group, visit the Members tab:

  • Use filters or the search bar to narrow your results.
  • Click “Message” to reach out directly and start a conversation.

The Discussion tab is a great place to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from others:

  • Post a question using the text box at the top of the feed.
  • Add details, links, or images to support your post.
  • Brows or reply to others’ posts and contribute to the conversation.

Many groups offer curated content just for members in the Resources tab:

  • View articles, tools, or recordings of interest.
  • Bookmark resources to revisit later.

Take Action

If you haven’t already joined Lundquist Connect, take a few minutes to set up your account (it’s simple) so you can begin tapping into a network of more than 1,500 alumni who are eager to help you succeed. Then, join a Group that aligns with your interests or enrollment and see how powerful community can be. And if you have an idea for a group that’s not yet represented on the platform, reach out to Emily Severeid!
