On Wednesday, November 6 I attended the Industry Bites: The Business of Tech where I heard from a panel of experts including Chris Bennett from Palo Alto Software, Jason Ford from Microsoft, and Yasmeen Hampton from Juniper Square.
It was an incredible opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the technology field, with an intimate group of about 12 students and our three panelists, who each shared unique perspectives on the industry from their respective roles.
The panelists gave students advice on what recruiters prioritize in the hiring process and informed us on how transferable skills can be applied to advance in our careers. I also learned how their companies are currently using AI in their operations, and the sustainable practices each company has implemented.
By the end of the panel, I walked away with a clearer understanding of what a career in technology could look like for me, as well as actionable steps I can take as a student to set myself up for career success in the industry.
